In this issue, we explore ideas of newness and its relationship with the very concept of time, something we are privileged to discuss with famed physicist Professor Brian Cox in an exclusive interview (pg. 56) at the incredible IWC Schaffhausen booth at Watches and Wonder Geneva.

Watches and Wonders Geneva blessed us with the new. Some of the Maisons came up with daring new concepts, such as Grand Seiko’s Kodo Constant-force Tourbillon (pg. 64) or Hermès’ profoundly intriguing Arceau Duc Attelé (pg. 68). Others, like Patek Philippe (pg. 52), made new its World Time expression, adding a never-before-seen layer of sophistication to the complication.
Some dreamt up exciting new ideas in aesthetics. Rolex pushed the envelope of what its iconic Oyster Perpetual Chronograph could be (pg. 50), while Zenith brought us new Defy Skyline Chronographs (pg. 58).

It’s something that Louis Vuitton is doing as well, as it reveals its Pre-Fall collection in pg. 18. Dior does the same, astounding us with Gravity Leather in pg. 24.

We also have a new set of 10 August Men of Tomorrow to introduce to you (pgs. 72 – 93). Meet the pianist who left home at 16 to study music from the Masters, or the linguistics academic preserving Kristang for the next generation. Meet the indie rapper who brings a whole new definition to musical DIY, and the lawyer whose cases have shaped Singapore’s sociocultural and socioeconomic landscape.

Thai actor and our cover star for this issue, Naphat ‘Nine’ Siangsomboon, is becoming more than just a romantic lead, and we explore with him this newness in his evolution as a performer and entertainer in pgs 44 – 49. On our cover, he’s sporting Franck Muller's Long Island Evolution, a watch that perfectly encapsulates this idea of newness.
